Unicorn Cycles started with Jason and his journey started at the Furnace Creek 508 in 2004. This epic race was attempted after purchasing his first road bike only 1 year prior. During this race he crashed at 300 miles. Despite possible fractures he pushed himself and completed 400 miles before the 48 hour cut-off.

He participated in the Texas Time Trials in 2004, 2005, 2014, and 2015.

In 2016 at the Texas Time Trials he qualified for RAAM, completing 500 miles in 36 hours.

At home in Colorado he rides double centuries with tight time cut-offs and lots of climbing. He also enjoys the more leisurely brevets. The pinnacle of which have been the Colorado High Country 1200k and the Last Chance 1200k.

Jason tested his limits finishing the self-supported 1000 mile Steens Mazama race in Oregon in 2017.

He has also ridden several single & double (gravel) centuries over the years.

Jason struggled to find a stock frame that balanced; comfort, speed, reliability, weight, durability and cost. Out of necessity he starting designing his own frames and trying out out different setups. Unicorn Cycles strives to design the best bike for you.

Unicorns represent that perfect allusive bike, whatever your riding style. As ever rider is unique so should ever bike. Don't buy an off-the-rack bike, instead ride something magical, something you helped create.

Titanium is a great material for custom frames. Aluminum and carbon manufacturing doesn't lend itself to low-cost custom frames.

Steel and titanium share many of the same ride qualities. Titanium has the added advantage of being lighter and corrosive resistant.

Often the only complaint against titanium is the high cost. However, titanium has come down in cost since it was first introduced in the 80's.

I look forward to working with you.
